Sold in luxurious box.
August Macke is a German expressionist painter. After academic studies in Germany, he discovered the Impressionists in Paris. In 1909, he married and moved to Bavaria where he painted nearly 200 paintings in 18 months. This painting painted in 1910 when he was 23 years old is a tribute to Cézanne whom he greatly admired.
