Description
Explore the world of wildlife with the Papo condor figurine.
This scavenger bird of prey lives in South America, all along the Andes and the Pacific coasts. It is sometimes called the Great Andean Condor, because of its size. With an average wingspan of 3 m (sometimes more than 3.20 m), it is the largest land flying bird in the world. An adult male weighs between 11 and 15 kg. The condor lives at altitudes of 3000 to 5000 meters, generally on inaccessible rocks. It can live up to 50 years in the wild and more than 70 years in captivity! The Andean Condor was a mythical bird venerated by the Inca and pre-Inca peoples who considered it a messenger of transcendence because of the exceptional height of its flight.
