The Ford Anglia™ Ugears Flying Car

The Anglia is a faithful reproduction of the Weasleys' enchanted Muggle car. Children will love flying it through the air or pretending to race it around a track just before the Hogwarts Express. Who can forget the scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in which Harry and Ron ride back to Hogwarts in the Anglia, only to lose control and crash-land in the Whomping Willow? After a narrow escape, the young wizards and all their belongings are ejected by the car, which is upset by the mistreatment it has received.

The Ford AngliaTM Ugears Flying Car features a spring-loaded drive that transmits torque to the rear wheels, providing motive power. The car can travel 3 to 4 metres with a single winding of the ratchet mechanism located on the chassis. The spring drum is stored safely under the car's seats, while the genuine rear number plate acts as a start/stop button. There's also a neutral position that allows the car to roll freely.

The front wheels swivel 25 degrees in each direction and can be turned using the steering wheel or by pressing down on the wheels themselves, allowing the car to travel in a straight line or spin in circles (it's up to you to make the Anglia fly!). The car rolls on any flat surface, from carpet to slippery tiles, thanks to the rubber-band 'tyres' that surround all the wheels.

You can manually open the doors, boot and bonnet of The Ford AngliaTM Flying Car. The open bonnet shows off the engine details, while the boot is big enough to hold Harry's suitcases, complete with laser-engraved Hogwarts crest.

But that's where the magic happens: thanks to a special mechanism attached to the spring shaft running through the cabin, Anglia has a secret 'eject' function. When the front number plate is pressed, the boot and side doors open, while the tilting front seats and a lever in the boot dramatically throw out all the passengers and contents of the vehicle. Place Harry's suitcases in the boot, press the front number plate and watch as they are mercilessly ejected by the angry Anglia!

The Ford AngliaTM Flying Car do-it-yourself wooden model has 246 parts, is rated "medium" in difficulty and takes an estimated 6 hours to assemble. To assemble, simply detach the parts from the pre-cut laser-cut boards and assemble them following the detailed illustrated instructions. The instructions are available in 11 languages. No need for glue or special tools: everything you need for assembly is included in the box. For optimum performance, be sure to use the included sandpaper and wax to smooth and lubricate the moving parts.
