Hasui Kawase was a Japanese painter and illustrator born in 1883 and died in 1957. He belonged to the Shin-Hanga or pictorial revival movement. This print depicts the bridge at the Kameido shrine in Tokyo, a source of inspiration for many Japanese artists. From mid-April onwards, it became a must-see destination for its wisteria in bloom.
