Along with Seurat, Signac was one of the representatives of the pointillist or divisionist movement. This pictorial technique, based on science, consists of applying small touches of juxtaposed pure colours, leaving it up to the eye to recompose the image. In this 1925 painting, the artist depicts one of the two beacons at Port-Tudy on the Île-de-Groix. This painting can be admired at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
