Ernst Haeckel is a 19th century German physician, biologist, zoologist and humanist artist. A disciple of Darwin, he is considered the creator of the term ecology, the relationship of an organism to its environment. He made more than 1000 boards showing the proximity of art and nature. The "Hummingbirds" present 12 varieties among the 340 known species of hummingbirds, different in shape and color.
