Description
Jackals live in families comprising a couple and their young. Each family controls, marks and watches over a territory. Opportunistic in nature, they feed mainly on carrion and fruit and hunt small prey. Also, like wolves, jackals hunt either alone (the male especially when the mother is breastfeeding), or in pairs, sometimes with young adults when the territory is sufficient for them to stay longer.
